CliftonStrengths is an assessment tool created by Gallup, a well-known research and consulting company. It is designed to help individuals identify and understand their unique strengths and talents. The assessment is based on the research and philosophy of Dr. Donald O. Clifton, a psychologist and pioneer in positive psychology.
What is CliftonStrengths®?
Assessment: Individuals taking the CliftonStrengths assessment answer questions that help identify their natural talents and strengths. The assessment consists of 177 paired statements, and individuals select the statement in each pair that most closely aligns with their preferences or behaviors.
Strengths Report: After completing the assessment, individuals receive a personalized Strengths Report that ranks their top 34 strengths out of a total of 34 possible themes. Each person's results are unique, and the report provides insights into their dominant strengths.
Strengths-Based Approach: The CliftonStrengths philosophy is built on the idea that individuals should focus on developing and leveraging their strengths rather than trying to fix their weaknesses. By understanding and working with their natural talents, individuals can excel in various aspects of their personal and professional lives.
Application: People can use their CliftonStrengths results to enhance their career, personal relationships, leadership abilities, and overall well-being. The assessment can inform decisions about career choices, teamwork, personal development, and more.
How CliftonStrengths® Works:
Get Started
CliftonStrengths® has been widely used in organizational and personal development contexts to help individuals and teams recognize and optimize their strengths. It provides a common language for discussing and working with strengths, fostering a positive and empowering approach to personal and professional growth.

Coaching vs. Counseling
Professional coaching and counseling are distinct but complementary forms of support that serve different purposes. While both aim to facilitate personal growth and well-being, they have unique approaches and areas of focus.
As a professional coach, Alyssa partners with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. Alyssa values helping clients to leverage their strengths, enabling them to achieve their personal and professional goals. As a coach, Alyssa's style is warm and caring, curious and holds space for the possibility available to unfold in your life. She provides a structured framework for setting and working toward what’s wanting to emerge in your life.
In contrast, counseling, often led by licensed therapists or counselors, delves into deeper emotional and psychological issues, helping individuals address and heal from past traumas, manage mental health concerns, and navigate emotional challenges.
“Coaching offers clients a space for self-discovery and goal achievement, making it an excellent choice for those seeking to understand and maximize their strengths while moving forward in life. While coaching does not replace counseling when necessary, it can absolutely offer a transformative path for those looking to unlock their potential and create a more fulfilling life.” – Alyssa
